A former men’s clothing retailer and insurance salesmen, Roger surrendered to God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the 1978 National Association Convention in Kansas City , Missouri .
In December of 1979 Pastor James McAllister hired Roger to join the Church staff and he served as the Church Bus Director for two and a half years.
In July of 1982 God called Roger to Pastor the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau , Missouri where he served that church 7 years and one month. In 1983 vandals set the church building on fire where the old church house sustained tremendous damage. In September of 1985 a new Church building, located at 2919 Kage Road , was completed and dedicated to the Lord.
In August of 1989 Roger accepted the pastorate at his home church in Farmington where it all began. He has served on the Missouri Christian Education Board for over 20 years and is serving his second term as a board member for Hillsdale Free Will Baptist Bible College in Moore , Oklahoma . In July 1999 Roger had the honor of preaching at the National Convention in Atlanta Georgia .
Roger’s wife of 38 years, Carolyn, is a first grade school teacher in the Farmington School District . Roger and Carolyn have four adult children, Christin, also a school teacher, Jennifer (soon to graduate from college), Dr. Lance Hogan (a college professor) and Erika (a beautician). They have a wonderful son-in-law Jason and daughter in-law Kim. They have five grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, MacKenzie, Jayson and Jaxson.
